In this newly created body of work, Sneha reimagines Durga Ma and Kali Ma through a contemporary visual language that draws from Hindu iconography, childhood memory, popular culture, and the enduring symbolism of feminine power.

Within Hindu tradition, Durga Ma embodies protection, courage, resilience, and the generative strength of the Divine Mother. Kali Ma, one of the most formidable manifestations of the Goddess, represents transformation, liberation, and the dissolution of forces that perpetuate fear, illusion, and oppression. Together, they hold a complex spectrum of feminine power—nurturing yet formidable, compassionate yet uncompromising.

Sneha’s interpretations emerge from a deeply personal convergence of spiritual inheritance and childhood imagination. The works revisit her childhood fascination with The Powerpuff Girls, whose seemingly innocent forms carried an unexpectedly potent narrative of girlhood, agency, and collective strength. By placing this cultural memory in dialogue with the sacred figures of her Hindu heritage, Sneha examines how ideas of power are absorbed, remembered, and reconstructed across generations and cultural landscapes.

The resulting works occupy a space between the sacred and the familiar, collapsing distinctions between mythology, popular culture, memory, and contemporary identity. They are simultaneously an homage to the artist’s inner child and an exploration of the archetypal feminine as protector, destroyer, creator, and force of transformation.
